Servas Estonia

Servas International is an international network of hosts and travelers building peace and understanding by providing opportunities for personal contact between people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. It has some 13 000 open doors in some 130 countries.

Servas was founded in Denmark in 1949 by a small group of young activists who called themselves "peace builders". Its aim was then, as it is today, to provide the possibility of contacts among people of various backgrounds to promote understanding. During the early 50's, the name was changed to Servas, Esperanto for "I serve".

Servas is non-political and is active as an NGO (non-governmental organization) at the United Nations.
